Veterans Day activities

Parade

The Southern Pines 2021 Veterans Day Parade will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 6 in downtown Southern Pines.

Program

The 15th annual Veterans Day program at the Moore County Veterans Memorial, located at the Carriage Oaks Mall on US 15-501, Carthage, will be held on Saturday, November 6 at 11 a.m.

The speaker will be the Command Sgt. Major Robert “Bob” Hall, US Army (retired), currently the Veterans Service Officer in the Moore County Veterans Office.

There will be a color presentation by Union Pines High School Color Guard; patriotic music by bagpiper Vic Thompson and singer Larissa Glassman; an army helicopter on display; and a presentation of wreaths by various military and other organizations.

Choir of the Golf Capital

The Golf Capital Chorus presents “Barbershop Got Country” on Saturday, November 6 at 7 pm at the Pinecrest High School auditorium in Southern Pines.

The Golf Capital Chorus is a group of about thirty men who sing for fun and charity. The group is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Bolshoi Ballet

The Sunrise Theater is once again hosting the Bolshoi Ballet presentations with the opening of the “Spartacus” season at 12:55 pm on Sunday 27 November.

In Imperial Rome ruled by Crassus, Spartacus and his wife Phrygia are enslaved and separated by slave traders. Bread bowl visit

The Aberdeen Business Guild is hosting the 10th Annual Holiday Open House and Bread Bowl Walking Tour from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, in downtown Aberdeen.

Cooking chili

A chili bake will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 7 at 133 E. New Hampshire Ave., Southern Pines.

For tasters, the cost is $ 10 or more. This includes a spoon and voting materials.

The proceeds support Special Forces Chapter 62, a local nonprofit organization that supports U.S. Special Forces and its soldiers.

Elderly People’s Center Craft Fair

On Saturday, November 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Moore County Senior Enrichment Center (SEC) will host its biggest fundraiser of the year – the Senior Arts and Crafts Fair. This is a free event open to the public.

Local artisans who sell their homemade items must be 50 or older to purchase table space.

Some of the unique handcraft treasures available are pottery, holiday ornaments, holiday decorating, holiday items, home decor, old fashioned wooden toys, carpentry, birdhouses, home furnishings. outdoor, pine needle baskets, candles, soaps, jewelry, quilts, scarves, handbags, clothing, hats, baked goods, honey, greeting cards, paintings, historical artifacts, wreaths and more.

“All proceeds raised for this event go towards the services we provide that may require additional funding for this fiscal year,” said Terri Prots, Director of Aging Services.

Face coverings should be worn, as at all government facilities in Moore County.

The Moore County Senior Enrichment Center is located at 8040 US 15-501 in the West End, approximately 2 miles north of the Pinehurst Roundabout.

Shag Company

Moore Area Shag Society (MASS) invites those 21 and over to a special night of dance on Saturday, November 6, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Down Memory Lane, located off NC 5 at 161 Dawkins St., Aberdeen (behind bowling ).

DJ Buck Compton, of Fountain Inn, SC, will perform all types of music (shag, rock ‘n’ roll, slow and freestyle). A special draw will be for the benefit of the charitable associations of the group. The 50/50 draw will also take place.

MASS continues to collect donations for its two charities. Checks should be made to MASS. Donations are tax deductible.

A cash bar is available. There is no community food sharing, although individuals can bring treats for their table. Admission is $ 10.

Pet and family photo day

Hollyfield Design is hosting its fourth annual Family / Pet Photo Day at its Holiday Open House, which runs November 5-7 (Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. ) The photos will be part of Sunday activities between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Santa Max will be on hand to take photos and chat with the kids. The event and digital photos are free.
