The Bacon & Bits 4-H Club hosted a Club Cookout and Skill-a-Thon prep session on June 2 at the home of Councilor Anita Cooper.

Counselors Chad Mason and Austin Gray helped the Rabbit Project kids check in on the Rabbit before coming to the meeting and joining the other club members.

Councilors Melanie Hill and Anita Cooper assisted in the kitchen project area where members Maddie, Keyton and Cali prepared recipes for the club to enjoy with burgers, hot dogs and side dishes. Maddie’s mother, April, also helped out in the kitchen prep area with AJ Houseman.

Special thanks to John Cooper and Ciarra Cooper for helping grill and serve food.

Preparation for the Swine Skill-a-thon was led by counselors Kym Parks and Rachel Young. Preparation for the Rabbit Skill-a-thon was led by Chad Mason.

Caelyn gave a presentation on her dog poster project. Special guest Monte Anderson shared some gardening tips.

Ten members and six councilors were present, along with parents and siblings.

Past meetings

The 4-H Bacon & Bits Club held a meeting on May 19 with a business meeting and then a demonstration on proper rabbit handling, led by Thomas Clifford and assisted by William Wheeling.

Members were given the opportunity to hold Cupcake, owned by Thomas Clifford.

The club met on April 21 and held a short business meeting. This year’s t-shirt design was voted on by secret ballot — Thomas Clifford won the competition this year.

Club members discussed their projects and what they are working on. A demonstration of American Sign Language was given by Colton Young. His mother, Rachel Young, attended the demonstration.

The club was very interested in this subject and asked a few questions after the presentation.
