Petbarn and Uber are teaming up to launch a same-day, store-to-door delivery service, where orders can be placed online and delivered within hours.

Petbarn and Uber are working together to launch a same-day, store-to-door delivery service that will allow shoppers to place an order online and have items dropped off at their door the same day.

Launched this week in Melbourne and rolled out nationwide in the coming weeks, the partnership is one of many initiatives to make it easier for customers and their pets during the pandemic.

“We understand that many of our older and more vulnerable customers feel anxious about being able to get to the stores,” said George Wahby, CEO of Petbarn and Greencross Vets.

As part of the launch, the Petbarn Foundation and Uber will donate 20,000 free deliveries to help owners of vulnerable and elderly pets.

“This follows a number of initiatives the company has rolled out, including Zero Contact Click and Collect in its stores,” Mr. Wahby said.

“We will also be opening some Petbarn stores as distribution centers and introducing minimal contact pet care options at Greencross Vets across the country. “

Georgia Foster, Uber’s Head of Business for Australia and New Zealand, said she was excited to be able to leverage Uber’s platform to provide this service to pet owners across Australia.

“This is part of our global commitment to deliver 10 million free rides and deliveries to those who need them most during this difficult time,” she said.

Buyers will receive same day delivery seven days a week when ordering through the Petbarn website before 4 p.m. Same day delivery is currently available for an introductory price of $ 9.95 per delivery.
