Two accused in separate Alton arson cases

The case was brought by the Alton Police Department.

According to court documents, on July 24, McGuire allegedly set fire to a dumpster at Casey’s General Store, 2530 E. Broadway, Alton; and broke into the convenience store.

Bail was set at $50,000.

In an unrelated case, Jon V. Hammack, 60, listed as homeless in Alton, was charged with arson, a Class 2 felony.

The case was brought by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on July 22, Hammack set fire to the driver’s side door of a Chevrolet 1500, along with blankets, sleeping bags and miscellaneous clothing, all worth more than $150, belonging to two other people.

Bail was set at $50,000.

The charges come as police continue to investigate several suspicious house fires in Alton over the weekend.

Other felony charges filed July 25 include:

• Dennis M. Farr, 59, of St. Louis, has been charged with retail theft over $300, a Class 3 felony. The case was brought by the Granite City Police Department. According to court documents, on July 22, Farr allegedly took underwear, medical equipment, jewelry, king crab legs, snow crab legs, French fries and numerous other items worth more than $300 at Granite City Walmart. Bail was set at $25,000.

• Santana Minjarez, 34, of Collinsville, was charged with retail theft under $300 (second subsequent offense), a Class 4 felony and resisting a peace officer, a Class A misdemeanor. he case was brought by the Collinsville Police Department. On July 22, Minjarez allegedly took two bottles of liquor worth less than $300 from Sav-On Liquor in Collinsville and resisted an attempt by a Collinsville police officer to place him under arrest. He was convicted in 2013 of burglary in Madison County. Bail was set at $20,000.

• Father L. Terry, 58, of Staunton, has been charged with Retail Theft Under $300 (second subsequent offence), a Class 4 felony. The case was brought by the Staunton Police Department. Wood River. On July 24, Terry allegedly took pet food, lights, toilet paper, diapers, hair products, glue, a plastic container and board games worth less than $300. $ at Wood River Walmart. She was convicted in 2017 of retail theft under $300 in Madison County in 2017. Bail was set at $15,000.

• Nathan R. Littlefield, 34, of Collinsville, was charged with driving while his license was revoked, a Class 4 felony. The case was brought by the Collinsville Police Department. On July 24, Littlefield allegedly drove a 2018 Mazda in Collinsville with a revoked driver’s license. His license was revoked due to an impaired driving conviction in 2007; he has previous convictions for driving while his license was revoked in 2008, 2010 and 2020. Bail was set at $25,000.

• Michael E. Bridges, 58, of Granite City, was charged with driving while his license was revoked, a Class 4 felony. The case was brought by the Granite City Police Department. On July 24, Bridges reportedly drove to Granite City with a revoked driver’s license. His license was revoked due to an impaired driving conviction in 1993; he has prior convictions for driving with a revoked license in 1993, 1996, 2002, 2004, 2010, 2014 and 1221. Bail was set at $15,000.

• Jeffrey F. Pointer Jr., 34, of Granite City, was charged with driving while his license was revoked, a Class 4 felony. The case was brought by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. On July 23, Pointer reportedly drove to Granite City with a revoked driver’s license. His license was revoked due to an impaired driving conviction in 2009; he has a previous conviction for driving while his license was revoked in 2009. Bail was set at $15,000.
